Description

I think the most of you has read Dune. You know... the book with Arrakis and Paul Atreides, the sandworms, the Fremen, the Spice... u know what i mean?
Good.
But i think the less of you has read the Chronology Of Dune (if thats the name in U.S. I only know the german name). In any case, thats written by Frank Herberts son, Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson and tells the story that was before Dune.
Leto is a child, Shaddam Corrino IV kills his dad... just the anamnesis.
And there is also told the story of Duncan Idaho. Some of u may know, that he tells in Dune that he grew up on Giedi Primus, the Harkonnen planet, and then escaped.
Well... This picture is out of his history. Its the scene, when he is hunted by Harkonnens through the forest station, and then kills one to steal his Lasgun.
For the ones, who didnt read the chronology... forget it, and enjoy the picture. :)

Same procedure as every year... ehm... picture. Drawn with pencil, inked with edding, scannend, colorated in Photoshop 7.0 together with Lixus again.
I think this picture is one of our best works, because we also painted the whole scenery behind him, (the snow, the forest and so) and then "digged" his foots into the snow so he looks like he is realy standing there.
But the picture here is a bit small, because the broad is the 716 so please look into the big view. THX
Well... your opinion?

Well ur right... the snow is maybe too much.
But dont forget he is a boy of about... 8 years or so. I think then the proportions are okay, aren't they?

I agree that the snow makes it hard to see but thinking about it, if that's what you were trying to portray you did it well :) +5

May I recommend "Successful Drawing" and especially "Creative Illistration" by Andrew Loomis. You can get the, from fineart.sk and I am sure you would find them very useful.

As a fan of Dune...I love that you are story telling. +8 for communication. If you want to work on this somemore or go to another illustration inspired by Dune.
Don't overdo the effects like sand or snow. Loomis would really help you too. His lessons are so easy to follow and just using some anatomy construction can really help even if you are going for stylised figures. He covers doing children too. :)
